Dermatology Services for Pets

If you’ve ever experienced any skin issues, you know how unbearable they can be. Well, it is just the same for your furry friends except they can’t take themselves to a dermatologist. Pets can experience skin conditions from fleas, hormonal disorders, mites, allergies, ticks, infections, ringworm, yeast infections and dermatitis. Luckily, it is easy to spot the changes in the fur or skin of your pet and have the condition treated early.

How can I tell if my pet has a skin condition?

If you notice any of these abnormalities in your pet’s skin, they may have a condition that requires treatment:

1. Bare patches in their fur
2. Dandruff
3. Smelly fur
4. Thinning hair or coat
5. Redness of the skin
6. Lumps or bumps
7. Scabs
8. Scaling

How are skin conditions diagnosed in pets?

In order to properly diagnose a skin condition in your pet, our veterinarian will first perform a physical examination. We may also use other diagnostic tools such as running bloodwork, urinalysis, skin scraping or even biopsies.

What treatments may be recommended to treat my pet’s skin condition?

At our clinic, the treatment that we use for dermatological issues varies from case to case. Once we have diagnosed the issue, we may recommend topical creams, laser therapy or oral medications. For more information on a treatment for your pet call us at 519.641.8383.
